Locations
VA Caribbean Healthcare System serves veterans in Puerto Rico and U.S.V.I. In addition to our main medical center in San Juan, we offer a number of services to our patients in six outpatient clinics.
Waiting Areas
For your convenience and safety, we have special waiting areas throughout the facility. Please do not gather in the hallways or at the nurses' stations. You may also want to review our Visiting Hours and Policies.
We have volunteers who work and help patients in wards areas in the morning hours. Please check in, and give the volunteer the patient's name. If you leave the waiting area at any time, please let the volunteer know, in case we need to contact you.
Security
VA Caribbean Healthcare System has a Police Service. Our officers provide 24-hour patrols of the facility and parking lots. For general police assistance, please dial 31251. In case of an emergency, dial ext. 11444. Report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible.
Because the VA Medical Center is a federal property, all persons and bags are subject to search. In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted.

Chapel and Chaplain Services
The primary mission of Chaplain services is to provide a religious ministry program to meet the needs of the patients. It includes the following:
Opportunities for religious worship in an appropriate setting.
A pastoral ministry to individual patients and ministration in crises such as critical illness or impending death.
Sacramental ministry and pastoral counseling with individual patients in sufficient depth to meet their needs.
There is a chapel located on the 2nd floor, room A-269. The Chaplains care about your spiritual needs and are always available for you and your family. Ask a nurse if you need their services.
Other Preferences
Other religious preferences, such as Jewish, might be requested through the Chaplain Office, extension 12167.
