Additional Information Regarding the Online Non-immigrant Visa Application Form (DS-160)
A Turkish translation of the DS-160 will be available beginning in late January. When you point the cursor/mouse to any English text in the online form, a box with the translated text will appear. To see the translation of information in the drop-down menus, please click on the blue "i" symbol above the menu. You may select the translation language from the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of any screen in the DS-160 online form.
Step 1: To complete your online visa application, you must upload a digital photo. Please click here for more information, and read carefully the requirements to upload your photo and the photo specifications.
You must upload a photo in order to submit your application. If the photo you upload is not accepted as suitable, you will be given the option to continue without a photo. In this instance only, after you have successfully submitted the application, please follow the directions on your confirmation page and bring to your interview a printed photo meeting the above requirements.
Step 2: ALL visa applicants are required to fill in the online application form (DS-160). Once completed, the information in the DS-160 will be transmitted electronically. The applicant must then print the confirmation page, which includes biographical information and a bar code with confirmation number. Each applicant must bring the DS-160 confirmation page in order to be admitted to the Consular Section on the day of their appointment.
On the day of the visa appointment, if an online application has not been submitted for the applicant, the application was not completed fully and correctly, or the applicant appears without the confirmation page, the applicant will be requested to reschedule the visa appointment.
As you complete the visa application, save a copy on your hard drive and click "save" often. Fill out all required information fully and correctly, including selecting the appropriate visa type. Significant errors or information marked as "N/A", "Nil", etc., may result in your application being rejected at the time of your interview. This would require you to complete the entire application again and to reschedule a visa interview. If there is no activity for 20 minutes or more while completing this online application, your session will expire and all entered data will be lost UNLESS you save a copy on your hard drive. After submitting the application, you will have the chance to send a copy of the confirmation page by email.
