Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA)
 

Program sponsors and managers:

The FLTA program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by the American Center and the Institute of International Education in New York.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be teachers of English or in training to become teachers of English;
  • Aged between 21 and 29 years old at the time of application;
  • Have a BA degree 
  • Show fluency in English as demonstrated by a minimum IBT-TOEFL score of 80/120;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in speaking, writing, and teaching Modern Standard Arabic.

  • Access and complete your application on-line: https://apply.embark.com/student/fulbright/flta/27/
  • Fill out the attached personal information and supplemental question forms;
  • Provide copies of all university diplomas and official transcripts;
  • Submit three letters of recommendation on-line or in sealed envelopes;
  • Provide a copy of passport bio page.

Deadline:

All applications must be submitted on-line before September 14, 2012.  Applications submitted after this date will NOT be reviewed.

Visa status in the U.S.:

Fulbright Fellows live and study in the U.S. on a J-1 Exchange Visitor visa. The Fulbright FLTA Program is a nine-month, non-degree program and is not renewable.
