What We Do
Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. The Job Corps program is authorized by Title I-C of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. At Woodstock Job Corps Center, we support the Job Corps program's mission of teaching eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and placing them in meaningful jobs or further education.
Who We Are
Woodstock Job Corps Center is overseen by the Philadelphia Regional Office of Job Corps and is operated by Adams and Associates, Inc. Our Center Director is Tanisha Nixon.
Our History
Woodstock Job Corps Center was originally a Jesuit monastery, and today, retains much of its historic past. The cornerstones from some of
the buildings retain the marks of the early to mid 1800s. In those days, the place we now know as Woodstock Job Corps Center was called Woodstock College. According to information provided by the Jesuits, the grounds and buildings of Woodstock College were sold to the State
of Maryland on July 30, 1971. The state planned to use the "buildings as soon as they are rehabilitated for a Job Corps Program."
The Jesuits have since continued to retain ownership of the Cemetery and Mortuary Chapel, which greets visitors upon arrival onto the Woodstock Job Corps Center grounds. We continue our relationship with the Jesuits, collaborating to maintain the cemetery grounds with our Landscaping students.
