Relocation Services Overview

Relocation services are available at Army Community Service (ACS),Bldg. 683, 61 Quebec Street., Fort Devens. Listings of apartments and homes for rent and houses for sale in the area are available. Pick up a list of real estate agents in the area who can help you find an apartment or a house for rent or purchase, with a cost to fit your budget.

VERT IMPORTANT RENTAL INFORMATION:

***The initial cost of renting an apartment or home is expensive because most renters require first month rent, last month rent, and a security deposit equal to one month rent, paid up front before occupying.***

The Best Western, Royal Plaza Hotel, located at 150 Royal Plaza Drive, Fitchburg, MA will charge the same amount for a room as the Devens Inn with a valid military ID card. For reservations call (888) 976-9254. Identify yourself as military when making reservations.

Separation Procedures

Various agencies that can assist service members during separation are Retirement Services,Army Career and Alumni Program, Civilian Personnel and individuals concerning unit. Cross reference PCS Reporting procedures.


In Transit Emergencies

There is always the possibility of needing emergency assistance while in transit. The following telephone numbers should be accessible: unit commander, and sponsor.

Financial Preparedness

Guidance and help in the financial arena can be obtained at Army Community Service, Devens, to soldiers,Marines, Navy and family members.

Be aware of disadvantages of Advanced Pay. Government Credit Card use is monitored by CID.

Pamphlets concerning budgeting and personal finance are available at ACS, free of charge. Appointments should be made for financial counseling and prescreening for Food Stamps, Women, Infants and Children (WIC), and Fuel Assistance eligibility. Referral is offered to Consumer Credit Counseling Services in the area.

PCS Reporting Procedures

Inprocessing Procedures need to contact their receiving unit. Training Support Brigade and 94th Regional Support Command (RSC), USAR, are two major units at Devens.



POV In-Bound Shipments

  One privately owned vehicle will be shipped at government expense to or from an overseas area when permitted (some overseas areas restrict government shipment of POVs). The entitlement to ship an otherwise eligible POV from overseas to the United States is not dependent on whether a POV was shipped to the overseas area. The entitlement to ship a POV to the overseas area is separate. For the purpose of this shipment, a POV is a vehicle owned by the member or a dependent of the member (member must show proof of ownership/registration or lease agreement). A Power of Attorney or authorization letter will be needed if someone other than the owner picks up the vehicle.

Only one POV can be imported tax free for military or DOD civilians under PCS orders.

Same as POV In-Bound shipments. Make sure your POV meets any host nation emission control and safety standards.
