General Information

The consular section of the United States Embassy in Phnom Penh processes applications for both nonimmigrant visas and immigrant visas to the United States.

Nonimmigrant Visas: required for travelers who are not under the Visa Waiver Program who intend to visit, work or study for a temporary period. Please select the appropriate type of visa for the purpose of your travel. Also please note that nonimmigrant visas for Cambodian citizens are generally valid for three months, so you should apply for a visa within three months of your departure date.

Immigrant Visas: all persons who plan to travel to the United States to establish permanent residency must obtain an immigrant visa prior to entering the United States.  In general, in order to be eligible to apply for an immigrant visa, a foreign citizen must be sponsored by a U.S. citizen, an LPR relative, or a prospective employer.

Changes in Visa Fees

In Fiscal Year 2012, the Department of State estimates it will process 10.5 million nonimmigrant visas and one million immigrant visas.  Based on an update to the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ cost-of-service model conducted in December 2011, we are adjusting the fees for processing these visas to better reflect the costs of providing these services.  On April 13, 2012, we will adjust nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processing fees as follows:
