Accreditation:

Zama American High School is accredited as "Accredited Probation" by NCA CASI Department of Defense (NCA-CASI-DODEA), a division of AdvancED, DoDEA's independent accreditation agency.  Formal accreditation reviews occur at least once every five years by an AdvancED Quality Assurance Review (QAR) team. The latest evaluation was held in February 2012.

The AdvancED report includes several required actions that must be addressed by the school within one year to retain accreditation. We have developed a virtual dashboard to document school improvement progress for the AdvancED Accreditation Progress Review (APR) scheduled for the spring of 2013. The dashboard highlights progress milestones to date and is available below in the Monitoring Progress section. Students graduating from a school that is rated Accredited Probation are still graduating from an accredited institution. Zama American High School students are fully eligible to transfer credits, apply to colleges and universities, enlist in the military, and apply for grants, loans and scholarships that require students to graduate from an accredited institution.

Zama American High School has developed and is executing a comprehensive improvement plan to ensure improvement is both enduring and continuous. To learn more about the progress that has been made to date and specific improvement plans going forward, please review the Monitoring Progress section below or contact the school principal or a Continuous School Improvement Leadership Team (CSILT) representative.

Monitoring Progress:

The DoDEA School Report Card provides an overview of Zama High School including improvement goals, demographics, and student performance data.

This dashboard is designed to help students, parents and community members know and understand the progress Zama American High School (ZAHS) is making to address the 6 specific required actions outlined by AdvancED during a routine accreditation review in Feb. 2012.

These 6 required actions will be reviewed during an Accreditation Progress Review (APR) to be conducted by AdvancED in the spring of 2013. The purpose of the APR is to ensure ZAHS is making adequate and continuous progress on required actions outlined by AdvancED. ZAHS has been placed on "Accredited Probation" pending the APR.

In the meantime, Zama American High School remains accredited and our students will not be disadvantaged in any way. ZAHS students are fully eligible for college admission, scholarships, grants, military service, credit transferability and any other opportunities associated with attending and graduating from an accredited school. The dashboard highlights specific actions designed to meet or exceed the expectations outlined by AdvancED. However, the dashboard is only one dimension of a broader school improvement effort. Please contact the ZAHS Continuous School Improvement Leadership Team (CSILT) for more details or visit the Wikispace below.

Students, parents and community members with an interest in our school are welcome and encouraged to participate in our school improvement process. We have developed special teams called "communities"—composed of students, parents and faculty members—to manage school improvement at Zama HS. To document and share that progress, we have created Wikispaces to foster ongoing, two-way communication. Each community has a dedicated Wikispace which supports collaboration among the team members and offers much more detail than the dashboard above.

The ZAHS-CSI Wikispace brings the collective efforts of the various CSI communities together to keep everyone informed and engaged. We invite you to browse project status, review meeting minutes and provide constructive feedback. To protect the privacy of educators and students, Wikispaces require registration. Creating an account username based on the firstname.lastname convention is strongly encouraged. If you have any trouble accessing the ZAHS-CSI Wikispace, please visit the Zama High School main office for assistance.
