Deputy to the Garrison Commander

U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I

 

Mr. Freddie L. Giddens assumed the duties as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander, United States Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I, on 6 May 2012. Prior to his arrival, he served as the Executive Officer to the Command Sergeant Major, Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Atlantic Region, where he was directly responsible for planning and executing unique and special projects for the Region Director.

 

He entered the U.S. Army as a draftee on 4 March 1970 and completed basic and advanced infantry training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Mr. Giddens’ subsequent military assignments include Headquarters, Test Command, Sandia Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico; U.S. Army Drill Sergeant School and Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; J-2 Intelligence, United Nations Command, U.S. Forces Korea and Eighth U.S. Army, Seoul, South Korea; Headquarters and Headquarters Commandant, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; 4/7 Cavalry, Camp Garry Owens and Headquarters, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, South Korea; G-1, Headquarters, 24th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, and G-1, Headquarters, VII Corps, Stuttgart, Germany, where he retired from active duty on 30 June 1990.


In November 1990, Mr. Giddens was selected as the Director of Sports and Fitness at Vilseck, Germany, and progressed through the ranks as the Community Recreation Director before being promoted to the Director of Community and Family Activities (DCA) in March 1993. He was then reassigned as the Sports, Fitness and Recreation Officer for the 100th Area Support Group. Subsequent assignments include Assistant DCA; Director of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR) and Chief Management Analyst and Deputy Director for the Plans, Analysis and Integration Office (PAIO). During his tour in Germany, he was also the commissioner for boxing and martial arts, and served on several occasions as a Chief of Delegation and Referee for international boxing competitions. He served as an instructor and conducted clinics for Individual Development Plans (IDP) and the Total Army performance Evaluation System (TAPES) for the Department of the Army. He was the director of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation at USAG Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; Senior Non-Appropriated Funds Program Analyst (Plans); Regional Installation Specialist (RIST) and Chief of Plans and Operations for the Directorate of Logistics, at Headquarters, IMCOM Southeast Region.


Mr. Giddens has attended several Army schools including FMWR Courses – the Basic Management, Community Recreation Officer and Director of Personnel and Community Activities (DPCA). He also completed Personnel Management for Executives I and II at the Army Management Staff College at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and in Kansas City, Kansas; Managerial Competences for Executives, Germany; U.S. Army Europe Senior Leadership Training, Heidelberg, Germany; IMCOM Lean Six Sigma Project Sponsor, Southbridge, Massachusetts; several DA/ALA Garrison Commander's Conferences; Regional Installation Support Team (Pilot) Course, US Forces-Iraq Garrison Operations and Contracting Officers Representative Courses; Sustaining Base Leadership and Management Course, Army Management Staff College.


Mr. Giddens awards includes the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, two Superior Civilian Service Awards, four Commander’s Awards for Civilian Service, two Achievement Medals for Civilian Service, thirteen General Officers Stars notes, and five Senior Executive Service notes.


Mr. Giddens is single. He has three children and three grand children.
