The TRICARE Active Duty Family Member Dental Plan (TADFMDP) is a comprehensive dental plan available to the spouse and children of active duty members of the Uniformed Services. This plan is administered by United Concordia Companies, Inc. in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. It is a voluntary Comprehensive dental plan available to family members of all active duty Uniformed Services personnel. When the active duty member (sponsor) enrolls family members in the FMDP, a monthly premium is paid through payroll deduction. The plan has cost shares, maximums, and limitations similar to typical civilian dental group plans. The amount covered by the plan ranges from 100 percent to 50 percent, depending on the type of service. Health Benefits Advisor, Hanscom Air Force Base, MA can be reached at 781-377-4714/2120, DSN 478-4714/2120.

Soldiers and family members may seek medical treatment through the civilian treatment provider or hospital of their choice using TRICARE.

A listing of TRICARE affiliated providers in the Devens area is available either from Army Community Service, Devens, 0630-1600, M-F, or from the TRICARE Health Benefits Advisor, Hanscom Air Force Base at (781) 377-4714/2120, 0800-1630, M-F.

Family members have several options for medical care.

TRICARE BASIC: This is standard. You choose your own health care provider with the limitation that the provider must be a registered TRICARE provider. Not all physicians choose to register with TRICARE. Bills from unregistered providers will NOT be covered, reimbursed, cost shared or paid in any form.(This is public law.) When using TRICARE, families have an annual deductible amount that varies by the sponsor's rank. Please note that the deductible year is a military fiscal year, 1 October -30 September. In addition to a deductible, there will be a percentage co-payment that you will be responsible for. The lowest co-payments will be from TRICARE Preferred Providers. These are health care providers who have agreed to a negotiated discount. Please note that unless you specifically elect another option TRICARE standard is what you will be enrolled in.

At this time, services are available at Hanscom Air Force Bases. However, you should be aware that Hanscom is a Medical Clinic, not a hospital. Other than routine care and pediatric services, most specialty areas require referral to a civilian physician.
