Captain Hildreth
commanded USS LA JOLLA (SSN 701) from October 2005 to October
2007. During his tour, LA
JOLLA completed
a Western Pacific Deployment. LA
JOLLA was
awarded a Navy Unit Commendation for actions during her deployment
and was twice awarded the Battle Efficiency “E” during his tour.
His other sea tours
include a tour as a Division Officer in USS PARGO (SSN 650) in Groton, CT.While
assigned, PARGO deployed to the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. From
1994 to 1996 he served as the Engineer Officer in USS PUFFER (SSN
652), during which time the ship completed a Western Pacific
Deployment. In 1996 he
reported as Navigation and Operations Officer onboard USS HONOLULU (SSN
718), completing a Western Pacific Deployment. In
2000, he reported as Executive Officer aboard USS MIAMI (SSN 755).
During his tour, MIAMI completed
a Depot Modernization Period at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Captain Hildreth’s
shore assignments included duty as a Staff Instructor at Naval
Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston
Spa, NY;
on the staff of Submarine Squadron 2 in Groton, CT;
and as the Year 2000 Transition Project Officer on the staff of the
U.S. Pacific Fleet. Following
his Executive Officer tour, Captain Hildreth served as the Officer
in Charge of Moored Training Ship 626 (DANIEL WEBSTER) at the Naval
Nuclear Power Training Unit, Charleston. After
his command tour, he served as the Deputy Senior Member of the
Pacific Fleet Nuclear Propulsion Examination Board. His
last assignment was as the Director of Plans on the staff of
Commander, Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa.
Captain Hildreth is
privileged to wear the Battle Efficiency “E” ribbon (four awards), a
Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation (two
awards) and a Meritorious Unit Commendation (three awards). His
personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the
Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the
Navy Commendation Medal (six awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal
(two awards). He is
married to the former Michele Toth of South Hero, Vermont. Captain
Hildreth and Michele reside in Guam with
their daughter, Emily.
