Primary Care

About the Program
The Cincinnati VA Primary Care Line provides care structured to meet the needs of its veterans and coordinates care emphasizing continuity and comprehensiveness.  Primary Care places emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion.

Primary Care Line Providers
All eligible veterans may be assigned to a primary care provider.  This may be a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner.  You will be assigned according to your needs.  Your assigned provider may not be the only provider you see but will be the person that leads the team to care for you in the best possible way.

Primary Care Teams
Our primary care teams include a number of people to care for your needs.  Physicians supervise the health care.  A Pharmacist will fill your prescriptions and monitor your medication use.  Nursing staff will give treatments, provide education and help you to understand your plan of care.  If specialty care is needed, your primary care provider will make appropriate referrals to ensure that all your medical needs are met.  Social workers are available to assist you by providing information on services available for you through the VA and in the community.
