in the overseas area. |
To register your newly arrived
or eligible dependent child for school with the Korea
DoDDS schools, view the Enrollment Procedures.
Please remember that you must have your childs' Social Security Number when you
register your child. |
Read the news release on the new early childhood entrance age. You can also view this in a power point. |
If you are re-registering your child in the same complex your child
attended last school year, you must attend the re-registration sessions scheduled
by each school. |
DoDEA, in alignment with the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, is committed to easing the challenges of military families moving between duty stations. For families transitioning to a new duty station and enrolling in DoDEA schools for the first time, there is now a provision, allowing a 30-calendar day grace period for parents/students to meet immunization requirements after school enrollment. The intent of this provision is to avoid any interruption in the transferring student’s education. The health and the welfare of all students is a top priority for DoDEA. The Department of Defense sets immunization requirements for DoDEA schools based on recommendations from the Center of Disease Control. Compliance with immunization requirements greatly reduces the risk of public health issues. School nurses and local military medical treatment facilities stand ready to assist parents in meeting these requirements promptly. |

The Student
Registration Supplemental Sheet has entry/status, sponsor,
and title codes that are helpful in completing the DS600. The DoDEA
Regulation 1030.1 describes space-available eligibility requirements
for education of minor dependents in overseas areas. |
Space Available Explanation:
At the time of enrollment, non-command sponsored children will be placed on
a "Space Available" list. Children who attended the previous school
year will have priority. The remaining available slots will be filled based
on the date that the Sponsor arrived in Korea. The current forecast for next
year based on the available number of Command Sponsored slots in Area III reflects
the very real possibility that there will be limited Space A slots at Humphreys
American School.
Therefore, it is imperative that if you bring your family
in a Space Available status, you be prepared to provide for your children's
education in accordance with Federal Law. The options here in Korea include
home schooling (you provide the curriculum), and the International Christian
School (ICS). ICS is a highly regarded private Christian Academy with a $900.00
per month tuition, plus $100 per month bus fee (both per child) if you do not
provide transportation.
Please contact us if you have any other questions that we can assist you with.
A tour at USAG Humphreys can be a very memorable experience for the entire
family as long as you plan ahead.
