SGT Elliot Valdez was born in Frankfurt, Germany, but grew up in Lawton/Ft. Sill, OK. Home of the Field Artillery.

He first enlisted in 1994 as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the Navy with the VS-24 Scouts stationed in Jacksonville, FL. “The aircraft carrier’s flight deck was my office, and it was great to be able to travel around the world.” After living the civilian life for a few years working for Dyncorp and Boeing, he met and fell in love with his wife Racheal who joined the Army after 9/11. “During my wife’s first deployment, I realized there’s a big fight going on, and I want to be in it!”

He reenlisted as a Combat Camera, and deployed to Iraq with the 4th Infantry Division Public Affairs Office out of Fort Hood, TX. He says the time spent in 4ID, “was the boot camp, sink or swim, way of learning to be a Broadcaster!”

"I feel very lucky that I get to be a broadcaster. I get to meet new people almost every day and learn about what they
do for Army. Everyone that works hard in the Army has a story to be told, and I’m glad I get to tell it.”
