Dental Service

About the Program

The Dental Service at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center provides evaluation, treatment, and consultation for a variety of dental problems.  We offer general dentistry, hygiene, oral surgery, periodontal care, endodontics, and dental prosthesis to our eligible veterans.  In order to be eligible for Dental veterans must meet one of the following criteria:  100% service-connected, at least 60% service-connected and unemployable, a POW, recently discharged from serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and have enrolled in VA healthcare within 180 days from discharge date, actively in Vocational Rehabilitation, or have a service-connected trauma to the mouth.  Read more about our Dental Service program. 

Services Offered

Dental offers all services except for Orthodontics.  Here are some examples:

General Dentistry

Oral exams, intra-oral x-rays, restorations, root canals, crowns, bridges, partial and complete dentures, extractions.

Hygiene

Cleanings, perio maintenance, root planing, scaling.

Oral Surgery

Surgical extractions, biopsies, tori removal, lesion removal, implants, grafts.

Periodontal Care

Perio exam/charting, lengthening, grafts.

Endodontics

Complicated endo/root canals.

Prosthesis

Splints, speech devices, prosthetic noses, complicated denture set-ups.
