American Center
The American Center, located in the U.S. Embassy, serves the U.S. mission to Tunisia by providing Tunisians with timely, accurate information on American politics, news and opinions, government, society, history, culture, and on U.S. policies affecting the bilateral relationship.
Public Service
I. Reading Room: The American Center is staffed with two trained information specialists who rely on a circulating and reference collection of over 7,000 books, 30 print periodicals, 800 videos including and feature films.

II: Electronic Facilities:
The American Center offers to its patrons a free access to Internet and to commercial full-text databases containing over 1000 magazines, newspapers and wire services. The American Center staff will respond to your queries and will assist you with conducting online research.

III. Exhibits and Displays: A selection of paper shows focusing on American and global themes, such as immigration, HIV Aids, green technology,others, are available for loan to institutions. The American Center would be happy to be your partner and support your program.
IV. International Information Program Online Publications:
A wide range of publications covering primers on U.S. history, social values, culture, legal system, economy along with guides to Journalism & Media, Human Rights, and Entrepreneurship are available at the IIP Digital Web site.
Outreach Service
I. Online Dissemination of Materials to Target Audiences
The American Center has a variety of ways of delivering information about the United State to its patrons. This includes the preparation of specialized information packages in response to institutional queries or to support special programs. For further information regarding this service, please contact American Center staff.
II. Selective Dissemination of Information Service (SDI)
American Center automatically provides patrons with current U.S. information (articles and reports) and alerts patrons of newly added books in their chosen fields of interest. All American Center services are free of charge. Please contact the American Center staff if you wish to be on SDI distribution list.
III. Book Presentations
The American Center regularly donates copies of American books translated into French and Arabic (Cairo / Amman) to institutions and individuals. The books are translated by the State Department Book Translation Program to give non-English readers access to current American ideas and culture.

The American Center is open to the public Monday to Friday, except on U.S. and Tunisian official holidays. Queries are accepted by telephone, e-mail, or in person during working hours.
- Winter: 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
- Summer: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Ramadan: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
