Command Sergeant Major Kennis J. Dent serves as the command sergeant major for the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command headquartered at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in Oct., 1982. He completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA, as a Radio Teletypewriter Operator.

CSM Dent is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. He also graduated from the First Sergeant Course; The Army Force Management Course; SATCOM Terminal Operation Course; Instructor Training Course; USAFE AN/GSC-40 Satellite Course; Radio Operator Course; Drill Sergeant Course; Primary Leadership Development Course; and the Basic and Advance Noncommissioned Officer Courses. In addition to his military education, CSM Dent earned a Master's Degree in Management from Webster University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University and a Diploma in Electronics and Computer Technology from the Electronic & Computer Institute.

Prior to his assignment at CECOM, Command Sergeant Major Dent served as the command sergeant major for the 516th Signal Brigade, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

CSM Dent's assignments include HHB 17th Field Artillery, Fort Stewart, GA; 181st Signal Company, Heidelberg, Germany, where he served as a SATCOM Team Chief; Alpha Company, 360th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA, as an Instructor Writer; Charlie Company, 361st Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA; Platoon Sergeant, Bravo Company, 369th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA, as a Drill Sergeant; Alpha Company, 369th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA, as Assistant Operation/Training NCO; HQ Company, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., as a Mechanical System Supervisor: 120th Infantry Brigade, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, as Brigade Senior Signal NCOIC; 311th TSC, DET 2, Korea, as Senior Telecom Plans NCO; Charlie Company, 86th Signal Battalion, Fort Huachuca, AZ, First Sergeant; two tours as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major with the 369th Signal Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA; and of the 58th Signal Battalion, Okinawa, Japan.

CSM Dent's awards include the Army Legion of Merit; Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC); Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC); Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC); Good Conduct Medal (6th Award); National Defense Medal; Noncommissioned Professional Development Ribbon (w/numeral 4); Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon; Drill Sergeant Badge; recipient of the Signal Corp Regimental Association Silver Order of Mercury.

Command Sergeant Major Dent is married and has two children.
