    Presidents' Day. Another No Work/No School Monday. That means it's time for a party Sunday night. At Cafe Asia, it's a banner night of smooth "grown and sexy" go-go, headlined by Familiar Faces. Featuring three members of the legendary group Rare Essence, including conga player Milton "Go-Go Mickey" Freeman, Familiar Faces brings an impressive percussive energy to its mix of originals and jazzy covers of R&B and urban contemporary hits. Vybe Band and Secret Society open. Tickets are $20 in advance and include a complementary Asian buffet.

  • DC Loves Dilla - Bar/Club Event
    Every February, a posse of DC's best selectors get together to tag-team their way through an expert curation of the catalog of the departed but always celebrated hip-hop super producer J Dilla. It's one of the best ways to experience the breadth of his work, as the DJs mine the well-known as well as the lost elements of his catalog, and you're surrounded with fans who are all equally devoted to the beats. Ten DJs pay homage at U Street Music Hall, including Waajeed of Slum Village, Book, 2-Tone Jones and Quartermaine. Dilla's mother, "Ma Dukes" Yancey, is the special guest. As always, the proceeds go to the J Dilla Foundation.

    With their pink tutus and squeaky-clean lyrics, the Not-Its have a lot in common with the other kid-friendly bands that take the stage at Jammin' Java. What makes them a bit different, however, is their rock pedigree -- singer Sarah Shannon of Velocity Girl and drummer Michael Welke of Harvey Danger -- that will impress parents. The group is touring in promotion of their latest album, "KidQuake!" which features songs about skateboarding, a funeral for a tarantula and participation trophies.

    "One Destiny," a one-act play about Abraham Lincoln, is just one of many things going on to mark the holiday at Ford's Theatre. There's "Torn in Two," the temporary exhibit of Civil War era maps and political cartoons, a storyteller on the myths of Lincoln, and a performance of Lincoln speeches by the Ford's Leader Youth Ensemble. At 7 p.m., political satirist Mark Russell will perform.
