Latest Embassy News

On Monday, September 10, representatives from U.S. Mission Uganda visited two predominantly Muslim secondary schools in rural Uganda as part of its broader efforts to engage youth on issues of tolerance, leadership, and education.

The team, consisting of Cultural Affairs Officer Shannon Dorsey, Regional Coordination Officer for East Africa with the State Department's Bureau of International Information Programs Charles Corey, Information Resource Director Sophie Bangi, and Audio Visual Technician Diana Eiyo, visited two predominantly Muslim secondary schools in Central Uganda - Gombe SS in Butambala District and Kibiibi SS in Mpigi District.

The team distributed backpacks over 3,000 backpacks with the message, "U.S. Mission Uganda Supports Young Uganda Leaders for a Better Future," as well as school supplies.  This is part of a larger youth engagement program that will ultimately distribute 19,000 backpacks and school supplies to students throughout the country.
