The following information is intended to be incorporated by all VAPIHCS external health care partners as policy to cover advance VA patient transfers and referrals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Please contact the appropriate VAPIHCS contact numbers listed below for assistance with medical transfer. Physician to physician discussion will be required.

Failure to implement “advance” coordination for VA patient transfers and referrals effective 15 January 2011, may result in non-payment or reduced payment for serivces rendered throughout the entire VA patient care process.

NOTE: 72 hours emergency notification for VA patient Emergency Room, hospital services and/or hospital admission should be called into (808) 433-0026 where we request you leave a message with patient’s name, last 4 of SSN and the name of the hospital that is providing medical care. This is the standard 72 hours emergency notification process that has been in effect for years and is required for proper reimbursment of emengency care provided to VA patients.
