US Senator John Barrasso is able to nominate up to ten young people annually to compete for each vacancy at four of the US Service Academies. Nominations are based on:
Following nomination, final selection and appointment is made by each service academy based on character, scholarship and test scores, leadership, physical and medical fitness, motivation, and suitability for a military career.
Please complete the enclosed application and return it, along with a photo and detailed letter about yourself describing your motivation for attending a service academy, activities, offices held in school and other organizations, hobbies, interests, employment and awards. Enclose, or have your high school (or college) send an official copy of your transcripts. You may include letters of recommendation or have them sent to the address below. Results of the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or American College Training (ACT) scores should be sent to Senator Barrasso’s Cheyenne office by using the code number 4985 for the SAT and 7200 for the ACT. Plan to take the tests in the spring of your junior year or fall of your senior year. You should take the ACT and/or SAT as many times as needed to have qualifying scores. Please let Senator Barrasso’s office know when you are scheduled to take the tests, or if there will be a delay in taking them.
