USADF began programming in Botswana in 1989

Focus: Improving livelihoods in rural communities with participatory methodology projects including handicraft, cattle, poultry and agro-processing project grants.   

Marginalized: The San, who live in the inhospitable terrains of the Kalaharii Desert, are a significantly marginalized groups in southern Africa. USADF grants cultivate sustainable local employment opportunities that create income and improve communities.

Food Security: USADF grants focus on building the capacity of farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises to enhance economic growth and improve local food security in the Kalahari Desert.
