American Historian James McPherson, Professor Emeritus at Princeton University, took part in a Digital Video Conference with university students and faculty from Yekaterinburg interested in the American Civil War. During the course of his presentation, Professor McPherson explained the differences between the ways of life and ideologies of Southern and Northern states, touched on similarities between Russian and American history, and illustrated how the Civil War helped to shape contemporary America. He also talked about his book "Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era", which was recently translated into Russian and published in Yekaterinburg.
