“I work with J5 [Planning] and advise an ANA Colonel and Sergeant Major on course content, training schedules and the planning of exercises for the Officer Training Brigade,” said Taylor. “I have also been heavily involved with the transition planning and handover to the ANA. It is very demanding but I have gained a lot of experience for whatever my future role may be.”

Afghan women train to ‘knock out’ gender discrimination

“Hand-to-hand combat teaches the women to react in the moment without a weapon and not to back down,” said Captain C.J. Farrell, one of the coalition advisors to the unit. “It can simulate fighting in a small space and helps develop skills they may need to subdue foes rather than kill them. The women of the ANA are especially placed in a vulnerable situation so the ability to defend themselves is a must.”

KMTC Facilities Engineers Take Ownership of Routine Base Maintenance
