9th Forum for the Future - Final Declaration
The 9th Forum for the Future, co-chaired by Tunisia and the United States, was convened in Tunis during the period of 11-13 December 2012 with the broad participation of Foreign Ministers and other government representatives of the G8, BMENA, and other partner countries; civil society and private sector representatives; and participants from international organizations. The U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), located within the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, is a unique program designed to create vibrant partnerships with citizens in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region to foster the development of pluralistic, participatory, and prosperous societies. MEPI partners with local, regional, and international non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academic institutions, and governments to support projects that directly respond to priorities identified by the people of the MENA region. Since 2002, and through its Washington headquarters and two Regional Offices, MEPI contributed over $600 million to more than 1,000 projects in 18 countries and territories.
