Senegal Army Chief of Staff visits U.S. Army Africa

VICENCZA, Italy – Brig. Gen. Papa Samba Kamara, chief of staff of the Army, Senegal, met with Maj. Gen. Patrick J. Donahue, U.S. Army Africa, commander, for an official counterpart visit Nov. 14 through 16 to reinforce the mutual partnership between the U.S. Army and Senegal.
Kamara, along with Col. Philippe Alfred Dia, G3 Senegal Army, Lt. Col. Saifoulaye Sow, assistant J3, Foreign Affairs and Relations and Lt. Col. Daniel Jones, Senior Defense Official, U.S. Embassy Dakar, met with Donahue and his staff to discuss USARAF’s partnership with Senegal in upcoming military engagements.
During Kamara’s visit to USARAF, he conducted an office call and command brief with the USARAF staff to discuss upcoming engagements and learn about USARAF’s mission. Kamara also had the chance to take a tour of USARAF’s Expeditionary Command Post monitored by Soldiers of the Contingency Command Post.
Outside of USARAF, Kamara and his staff had an opportunity to take a cultural tour of Vicenza, visit the Army Community Service building, Warrior Transition Unit and learn about how the U.S. Army takes care of Soldiers and families before, during and after a deployment by spending time with “Sky Soldiers” at the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team headquarters.
