Intervention 1

As our students engage in the writing process we are utilizing text and literature to model and apply the primary traits of the 6+1 Analytic Model.

1. Ideas: The students will use a variety of experience to generate ideas through brainstorming.

2. Organization: The students will learn organization through a variety of tools such as graphic organizers, outlining, sequencing… to introduce, transition and conclude a piece of writing.

3.
Voice: The students will develop voice that is appropriate for narrative, expository, and persuasive modes for a variety of audiences and points of  view.

4. Conventions: The students will practice grammar and mechanics through DOL, paragraph editing, peer editing and teacher conferencing of student.

5. Word Choice: From the use of literature and thesauri, students will generated and apply a variety of powerful words into their writing by utilizing effective adjectives, strong verbs, and figurative expressions such as similes and metaphors.

6. Sentence Fluency: The student will learn to develop smoothly flowing writing by analyzing sentence structure to improve beginnings, transitions, sentence length, and word choice.
