Immigrant Visas

IV applicants are able to check the status of their visa applications by going to Ceac.state.gov/CEAC and entering their CEAC barcode and interview location.

An immigrant visa is required of anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the United States.

U.S. immigration law provides for the issuance of immigrant visas in four general categories: immediate relatives, family based, employment based and Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, known as the "green card" lottery.

For information about immigrant visas to the United States, please see the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service website.

All applicants for fiancée visas and marriage- ased visas should carefully read the Information on the Legal Rights Available to Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence in the United States and Facts about Immigrating on a Marriage-Based Visa at Travel.state.gov.

If you have a question about an immigrant visa case already in process, you can send it to PragueIVP@state.gov
