Ohio National Guard personnel airlifted pre-assembled ‘Normandy Barriers,’ each weighing almost one ton, to known drug trafficking national park border sites. The barriers prevent vehicle traffic, while still allowing wildlife to cross. 

U.S. Border Patrol – El Paso Sector

In response to a request for nighttime aviation surveillance assistance submitted by the El Paso Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol, Marine Air Group 39’s HMLA 267 “Stingers” self-deployed their FLIR equipped AH-1W Super Cobra and UH-1N Huey helicopters to the border city of El Paso, Texas.  The Marines served as “the eyes in sky” for the Border Patrol agents on the ground.

A U.S. Army OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter takes off on a nighttime Joint Task Force North aviation reconnaissance support operation along the Mexico-U.S border.  The aircraft, equipped with forward-looking infrared (FLIR) optics, are used to locate and report suspected illegal activities.

Geospatial Intelligence Support

Joint Task Force North Intelligence Directorate Geospatial Intelligence Office provides the JTF North staff and law enforcement partners with imagery support, to include: multiple scale maps, line drawings, and custom geospatial intelligence analysis.

 

Southwest Border Homeland Security Support

Joint Task Force North serves as a force multiplier, enhancing law enforcement agencies’ effectiveness through the application of unique Department of Defense technologies and capabilities. Military personnel alert the co-located law enforcement agents to the presence of suspected illegal activities.
