NRO Beam

The Director of the Office of Corporate Communications (OCC) serves as the spokesperson for the NRO. He provides public affairs support and is the senior advisor for media issues. He oversees the daily operations of communicating with the media, the general public and the NRO workforce.

The office is comprised of three functional areas:

  • Media Relations
  • Internal Communications
  • Community Outreach

Media Relations

Media Relations is responsible for providing accurate information about the NRO’s mission and contributions to national security to the American public and the media while still protecting classified information. This is accomplished through public appearances and print interviews by NRO senior leadership, press releases, articles, and the NRO.gov website.

Internal Communications

Internal Communications ensures the men and women of the NRO are kept informed of news, events, and information affecting them and their working environment. This functional area also advises groups within the NRO seeking to communicate with the workforce.

Community Outreach

Community Outreach provides support for major internal and external events and exhibits, materials for NRO employees speaking externally, educational outreach, and informational ties with major industry partners.
