Tell a Newly Hired Co-worker About FSAFEDS!
Today, many agencies are placing a renewed emphasis on mentoring
relationships between employees. These relationships serve as an opportunity for
newly hired employees to ?learn the ropes? about Federal employment from seasoned
veterans at their new agencies.
There is a wealth of information you receive as a new Federal employee
and the amount can seem overwhelming. Guidance from an experienced employee can
be critical to getting a new hire started in the right direction, including how
to make informed decisions about employee benefits.
As an FSAFEDS participant, you are experiencing tax savings benefits
that come with a flexible spending account. Whether you are contributing $250 or
$5,000 to your account this year, you are paying less in taxes and putting more
money into your pocket. Be sure to share your experience with FSAFEDS with all of
your new co-workers?they will thank you for it later!
Newly hired employees have 60 days after their start date to enroll
in the FSAFEDS Program, so there?s plenty of time to share your expertise on important
factors like:
Do they realize how many health care expenses are eligible?
Are they aware that day care expenses are also covered?
Do they know how easy it is to use?
Encourage new employees to visit
www.FSAFEDS.com for more information. Help them get started on the path to financially-sound
career decisions. Be an FSAFEDS mentor and explain how a flexible spending account
can help them pay less in taxes every year!

FSAFEDS Announces Changes Regarding Health Care Receipts
In the past, some participants have submitted receipts for expenses,
such as office visits or co-pays that only reflected the amount paid. Have you been
sending receipts without the type of service and/or provider information included?
If so, we wanted to let you know we can no longer accept receipts that do not show
both the type of service and name and address of the provider to reimburse your
Health Care claim.
If your receipts clearly indicate the date(s) of service, type of
service and name and address of your provider, that?s great! Keep submitting those
with your claims!
If you participate in
Paperless Reimbursement, this only applies to you if you submit a manual claim.
Here are a few tips on how to submit a Health Care claim to ensure
a prompt reimbursement.
- You must file a claim form with FSAFEDS to be reimbursed for an eligible expense.
The Health Care Claim Form
is available on the FSAFEDS web site at
www.FSAFEDS.com.
- With your completed claim form, you must include supporting documentation for your
health care expenses with your claim.
- The bill or signed receipt must include the date(s) of service, type of service,
name and address of the provider and amount paid.
For more detailed information on submitting Health Care claims, please
refer to the Clean Claim Quick
Reference Guide.

FSAFEDS - Tips for Submitting Dependent Care Claims
By chance, have you been sending cancelled checks as supporting documentation
with your Dependent Care claims? If so, we wanted to let you know we can no longer
accept your cancelled checks to reimburse your claim. You must either have the provider
sign the Affidavit on Section(s) 2 and/or 5 of the claim form or attach a copy of
your bill or signed receipt.
Here are a few tips on how to submit a Dependent Care claim to ensure
a prompt reimbursement.
- You must file a claim form with FSAFEDS to be reimbursed for an eligible expense.
The Dependent Care Claim
Form is available on the FSAFEDS web site at
www.FSAFEDS.com.
- With your completed claim form, you must include supporting documentation for your
dependent care expenses with your claim.
- The bill or signed receipt must include the date(s) of service.
- If your provider is tax exempt, enter all 9s for the Provider's Tax ID.
- Have your provider sign the affidavit section of the form each time you submit to
avoid including receipts each time.
- Submit expenses for the full month after the month has ended, OR
- Submit previous week expenses.
For more detailed information on submitting Dependent Care claims,
please refer to the Clean
Claim Quick Reference Guide.
If you have any questions, please contact us at

FSAFEDS Announces New Way to Submit Qualifying Life Events (QLE)
on the Web
FSAFEDS is excited to announce the upcoming implementation of
our new Online QLE feature. This allows you to submit your request to make a change
in your FSA election(s) based on a status change directly from the website.
You will access the new ?Qualifying Life Event? section when
you log into your ?My Account Summary. We are confident this will make submitting
QLE requests as easy as 1-2-3!
Here are just a few highlights of the new ?Qualifying Life Event?
page:
- You can enter your date of event, event type and review previously submitted QLE
requests on one screen
- Easy to follow drop-down functionality enabling you to select your event type
- Enter your election changes as allowed by the date and type of your QLE
- Eliminates filling out and faxing in a manual QLE Form
If you are a newly eligible employee as the result of a QLE,
you can access the newly eligible link by going to Enrollment in the top menu and
clicking on Qualifying Life Event from the list. A pop-up window will tell you all
about QLEs and how to submit them.
Now doesn?t that sound convenient? We hope you are as excited
about the changes as we are!
Don?t worry - the standard QLE Form will still be available under
Forms on www.FSAFEDS.com
if you prefer to have a paper copy for your records. Please note: you may submit
your QLE request either by form or via the website ? not both.
If you have any questions about submitting a QLE, please contact
us at FSAFEDS@shps.com
or toll-free at 1-877-FSAFEDS (372-3337), TTY: 1-800-952-0450, Monday through Friday,
