Program Mission
The mission of the Radiology Service is to provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the male and female Veterans within an environment of superior customer service and cost effective quality care at the Bruce W. Carter Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center as well as at the Broward County VA Outpatient Clinic.
Services Provided
The main Radiology Service, located on the 3rd floor at the Bruce W. Carter Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, offers General Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Interventional Procedures and Computerized Tomography (CAT scan). Mammography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures are performed on the first floor of the Miami VAMC.
At the present time, only General studies and Fluoroscopic services are offered at the Broward County VA Outpatient Clinic. In the future, Computer Axial Tomography (CAT scan), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Mammography services will be offered at the Broward Clinic. All examinations with the exception of Mammography are performed and interpreted in a filmless environment that utilizes the “picture archiving and communications system” called (PACs). This is done with the help of by a staff of 31 technologists and nine University of Miami affiliated physicians.
Hours of Operation
All procedures with the exception of Mammography are available to patients requiring emergency procedures 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Unscheduled and Scheduled diagnostic procedures are performed during normal business hours 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; MR procedures are available Monday through Saturday.
