  • Effective 01 July 2012

    U.S. Embassy Paramaribo’s immigrant visa operation will be transferred to the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana. Due to this change, the National Visa Center (NVC) is assigning all new cases and reassigning some existing cases to continue processing at the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana. 

  • Visa Processing Fees to Change on April 13, 2012

    The fees for most nonimmigrant visa applications, while all immigrant visa processing fees will decrease. The Department is required to recover the cost of processing visas through the collection of application fees. The current fees no longer cover the actual cost of processing nonimmigrant visas. 

  • Important notice on I-130, petitions for alien relative

    Effective August 15, 2011, petitioners residing overseas will no longer be able to routinely file Forms I-130, Petitions for Alien Relative, with U.S. Embassies and Consulates except in locations where U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has a public counter presence within the Embassy or Consulate.

  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA)

    The Department of State is pleased to announce the introduction of a redesigned Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA, or Form FS-240). The redesigned CRBA, which is an official record confirming that a child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents acquired U.S. citizenship at birth and serves as proof of citizenship, has been updated with a variety of state-of-the-art security features to help prevent fraud and identity theft.
