AFNET Migration Update
As the Air Force continues to migrate network users into the AF Network there has been a significant rise in duplicate email addresses and misrouted messages. Named after the AF email format known as "X.500," this issue is best understood by thinking of two adjacent towns merging together and the possibility that each town had streets sharing a common name.

It's reasonable to assume each town had a "Main" Street and after merging now have two "Main" Streets." Now consider the confusion this causes the Post Office in determining the "correct" 123 Main Street address.

Fortunately, a fix is being implemented to resolve the X.500 issue automatically. Once pushed by the Network Operations Squadron (either 561st NOS or 83rd NOS), affected users will receive a "Pop-Up" notification and be asked to acknowledge by clicking "YES" on the pop-up. Then, executed scripts will run in the background and require no additional user input. If you have problems sending email to users and get rejections, please follow the guidance in the following link. AFNET email Fix

tabChild Safety Updates
***Update to Child Safety Situation:

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, two students at Ramstein Elementary School reported that they were approached by an unknown male.

The students perceived the situation as unsafe, so they ran inside the school and reported the incident to their teacher, while the unknown male fled. School officials notified Security Forces, who immediately dispatched patrols, began searching for the individual, and conducted checks at Ramstein Air Base exits.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) and the Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) are jointly investigating. Anyone with any information they think might help with the investigation is asked to call the 24 hour AFOSI Tip Line: Commercial 0171 745 5382.

The safety of our children remains our number one priority, and we are making every effort to identify the individual who approached the students and to assure the safety of all our children. Together, with a heightened sense of community awareness and increased security patrols, we are aggressively working to investigate this incident.

Remain vigilant and report any unusual activity to Law Enforcement. Contact Ramstein Security Forces at DSN 480-2050 or Commercial 06371-47-2050, or Vogelweh Security Forces at DSN 489-6060 or Commercial 0631-536 6060.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maintaining community awareness plays an important role in keeping our community safe, and our commitment is to keep you informed.

There have been no further reports of attempted child molestations or attempted child abductions since April 2012, and your vigilance is appreciated. However, Law enforcement has noticed an increase in parents leaving their children unattended. This violates the KMC Child Supervision Policy Matrix.

We continue our joint policing efforts especially around housing and school areas. DoDDs schools security measures remain in place and our Neighborhood Watch program continues to grow. The safety of our community remains our number one priority and we thank everyone for making a difference.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Community safety remains our number one priority and we appreciate your continued support, but we need your help. This past weekend a parent violated the KMC Child Supervision Policy Matrix by leaving young children unattended in a vehicle. Your vigilance and adherence to base policies will help keep our children and community safe.

From August 2011 to present there have been two alleged cases of child molestation and one case of attempted child abduction in the KMC. The victims were girls ages 5 to 7. There was also a report of children being approached by an adult male in a parking lot whose behavior they perceived as inappropriate.

The Neighborhood Watch program continues to grow and we thank everyone who is making a difference by volunteering. Your efforts make our community a great place to live, work and play.
