SDR Working Groups

Coastal Inundation Working Group
The purpose of the SDR Coastal Inundation Working Group (CIWG) is to enhance preparation, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts related to the potential inundation of the Nation's coastal communities. To reduce losses from coastal inundation, the CIWG actively coordinates Federal research and investment; serves as an interagency forum to leverage expertise; informs policy makers; promotes technology integration; works to unify Federal messaging across agencies; and encourages risk-wise behavior. International Working Group
The purpose of the International Working Group is to facilitate and promote international cooperation in science and technology as it relates to all phases of natural and technological disasters. The working group provides an interagency forum for the exchange of information and identifies and coordinates opportunities for beneficial collaborations. The group also coordinates the SDR's role as the U.S. National Platform for the UN International Strategy on Disaster Reduction (ISDR). Windstorm Working Group
The purpose of the Windstorm Working Group is to advance knowledge and policies that reduce the loss of life and property from windstorms in the Nation. The group works to identify and close gaps in federal efforts to improve windstorm hazard understanding, impact assessment, and impact reduction. It also provides an interagency forum to coordinate related Federal research and investment, promote technology integration, unify Federal messaging, and encourage risk-wise behavior.
