Three years ago, a driver fatally hit Eric Villarreal, while he was walking home on Halloween. It happened in Brownsville near the intersection of Tandy Road and South Frontage Road. Brownsville police released a photo of the suspect’s vehicle.

Basketball is back in a big way in #Brownsville thanks to Friday Night Lights!

The #basketball skills and drills program, facilitated by trainers from Pro Hoops, is offered to about 60 young people weekly, completely free of charge. This program offers a fun and safe activity on Friday evenings and the opportunity to interact with positive role models for youth, ages 11-18, from our programs as well as residents from the Van Dyke Community Center.

This program is possible thanks to a collaboration between GSS and the Manhattan and Brooklyn District Attorneys' offices that also includes the #NYPD, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center, and the Brownsville Community Justice Center.

#Brownsville police arrested two men on charges of #murder. The crime happened in May. Police found the body of 27-year-old Don Anthony Torres in front of his home on the 6800 block of El Largo.

An autopsy showed Torres died of internal bleeding as a result of a gunshot wound. The two suspects are waiting to be formally charged. #RGV
