CHICAGO - Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) named Mary Ann Levar as his new District Director and Laura Sisemore as his new Communications Director following the departure of District Director and longtime communications advisor Aviva Bowen.

“Mary Ann has provided outstanding constituent services, and Laura has been instrumental promoting efforts at home and in DC.  Our district will be well served in their new roles,” said Quigley. “Aviva will be deeply missed, but Illinois teachers are fortunate to have such a tenacious advocate in their corner.”

Levar most recently served as Quigley’s Deputy District Director and held the same role for then-Congressman Rahm Emanuel. In her new role, she will oversee constituent outreach while managing the daily activities of the Chicago office.

Sisemore moves up to Communications Director from her previous position as Press Secretary.  She will now be Quigley’s primary spokesperson and remain based out of the DC congressional office.

In addition to Bowen, who is leaving to serve as Director of Communications for the Illinois Federation of Teachers, District Scheduler Bridget Geraghty will be leaving at the end of the month to pursue personal interests.  Quigley has hired Melanie Thompson to fill the role.

“Bridget’s appreciation for the people and organizations of our District has been invaluable, but I am confident Melanie will bring her own brand of enthusiasm to our office,” said Quigley.

Thompson joins the office from the Chicago Cubs, where she coordinated events, internships, and community programming. She previously served as an intern in the office of State Senator Heather Steans.
