  1. Today, I am honored to be sworn in as representative for Illinois’ 5th Congressional District. As Congress continues to debate what’s best for American families and our economy, there will be many challenges ahead, but I promise to always do my best to lead with the transparency and integrity that our district deserves.

Congressman Quigley, Thank you for all you do! I can not wait to see you again in DC later in the month! I am writting to you, to hopefully make a few phone calls to the Members of the Illinois General Assembly to encourage them to pass HB 5170. I know you have said you support the General idea, but was hoping your Influenced call to let them know how your constituents feel, may help!

    • Sir, Please do not vote for the IL Weapons Ban. Please review all of the possible information. Like the fact that Rifles (of any kind) only count for less than 3.5% of homicides in America. The City of Chicago is in dire need of education reform and job creation. There is no hope in the despressed areas. Give the people hope, eliminate the gangs and the crime rates will drop. Banning weapons will not change anything. Please check the FBI Crime Reports for the last 20 years and you will see a 50% decrease in violent crime. The United Kingdom has X3.5 more violent crime per 100k people than the united states. Thank you,

    • I am truly disappointed in the talks regarding the fiscal cliff. A tax hike of this nature would catastrophic for my family. Please do what you can to ease the burden and maintain fiscal responsibility. We elected you now we need you to do what right for all families.

I don't see any alternative to passing the "fiscal cliff" agreement passed by the U.S. Senate this morning, Jan 1. It is not perfect by any means and I hope the House Democrats are successful in mitigating the worst that the Republicans would like to do; hopefully not just the worst but all the other bad things!

  3. Today’s NRA press conference only reiterates why we need to say enough is enough. We will examine our culture of violence, we will certainly discuss mental illness, but we can no longer ignore the need for commonsense gun control reform.

  6. The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a warning of high winds and heavy snow for our area in the next two days. Please take precaution and be prepared by reviewing important information below from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.
If you haven't already begun preparing for winter weather, now's the time.  Snow is forecast for northern Illinois and parts of central Illinois late Wednesday into Thursday.  Check out the Winter Storm Preparedness Guide at www.Ready.Illin...
  7. Thank you to the St. Vincent de Paul Center for bringing so much joy to our community at the Children’s Holiday Party last week. More than 440 local youth received a present from Santa!

  8. This crisis demands our action. The time has come for us to stop listening to the gun lobby, and start listening to the American people. The fact is a majority of Americans, gun owning and not, desire common sense, reasonable gun regulations. Congress must no longer stand in the way of reasonable regulation. Instead, we must champion it.
  9. While we are all free to debate the very real issues surrounding the tragedy in Newtown, CT, we cannot let our frustration and anger overshadow the memory of these young victims and providing support to the loved ones they leave behind.
  10. Whether you call it a "fiscal cliff" or a slope, there’s no denying the environmental wreckage hitting a metaphoric ledge will have to our National Park Service, rural jobs and renewable energy initiatives.
  11. Thank you to everyone who has shared thoughts. We are outraged within our profound grief as well. Congress is long overdue for a serious discussion on strengthening our gun laws, and we can't keep putting it off until the next tragedy occurs. I promise that I'll continue to fight, as we have for years now, for commonsense gun control and more support for mental healthcare. I'll keep fighting t...o close the gun-show loophole, require background checks, keep dangerous weapons out of dangerous hands, and take on the powerful gun lobby. I hope this horrifying tragedy in Connecticut, or the one earlier this week in Oregon, or the one earlier this year in Aurora, or the one that occurs every day in Chicago, will outrage more of my colleagues in Congress enough to join the conversation. Our thoughts and prayers are with Newtown.See More
  12. There are simply no words to describe the sadness and shock that I feel right now, and my heart breaks for the entire community of Newtown, Connecticut. Today’s horrific tragedy is overwhelming, and we must do everything in our power to help the victims and their families in the days ahead.
  13. Mike is looking forward to helping PAWS Chicago this weekend during the 12 Strays of Christmas. An adopted pet can make a great gift this holiday season but please make sure the recipient is ready for the commitment of bringing a four legged friend into the family!
  14. Thank you to our brave service men and women who protect America and keep us safe! After every war in modern U.S. history, our nation has honored our Veterans with parades, and now that the Iraq War has concluded, our community will have its first parade honoring post-9/11 Veterans this Saturday.

  15. Today on the House Floor, Democrats are urging House Republicans to allow the House to vote on extending tax cuts for middle class families and small businesses. Congress can't wait to do the right thing and must protect the middle class now while fiscal cliff negotiations continue.
