Kaiser Family Foundation Resources on Debt-Reduction Debate
As the Obama Administration and Congress consider options to avoid the potential negative consequences of the Jan. 1 “fiscal cliff” facing the federal budget and taxpayers, the Foundation has relevant research, analysis and polling  that shed light on potential changes to Medicare, Medicaid and other health-care programs. These include analyses of raising Medicare’s eligibility age, charging more affluent seniors more in Medicare premiums, and other specific policy proposals.
 
Faces of the Medicaid Expansion: Experiences and Profiles of Uninsured Adults Who Could Gain Coverage
Two new papers provide insight into how state decisions to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act are likely to impact people. Based on focus groups and interviews conducted in Cincinnati, Houston, Las Vegas and Tampa with uninsured adults who could be eligible for the Medicaid expansion in 2014, the papers highlight the experiences of uninsured adults and the significant health and financial consequences of being uninsured. A brief describes key themes from the focus groups and the other paper provides ten individual profiles of selected focus group participants.
