  2. Getting ready to start the day in Spokane, where I’ll be stopping by a local school to talk with students and teachers. Then off to Davenport, where I’ll be meeting with rural hospital CEOs about how we can improve rural health care. I’ll also be doing some radio interviews. Stay tuned for details!
  3. Meeting with constituents in Pomeroy today.

  4. The national unemployment rate is higher today than when President Obama took office, even though he’s added over $5 trillion to the national debt. Whether it’s the ‘stimulus,’ the health care reform law, or the threat of a record tax increase, the President’s Big Government policies have clearly failed. We need a new approach – one that unleashes the power of free enterprise and tames the growth of government.
  5. We'll be covering a lot of ground today - a "Coffee with Cathy" in Colfax, business roundtables in Pullman and Clarkston, a tour of Schweitzer Engineering's new manufacturing facility, and meetings with local officials on how we can create jobs. If there's one thing Congress can do to create jobs, what would it be?
  6. Looking forward to a busy day in Eastern Washington, including touring Valley Hospital and meeting with Avista employees.
  7. Congratulations to Justin Peterson of Chewelah, who won the Safeco Insurance Community Hero award and $10,000 for raising money for the Honor Flight Network, which flies America's veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Congrats again, Justin!
  8. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have been hit by Hurricane Sandy. To all my friends on the East Coast, please stay safe!
  9. I hope you'll join me in celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) by recognizing the contribution of people with disabilities to the workforce.

t is no coincidence that many of the counties with the highest unemployment rates in America are those which are surrounded by federal forests. It is time to put our people back to work, which in this case means putting our land back to work.
