Study Spaces Overview

The libraries provide a diverse range of study spaces. This page describes general information about tables, carrels, and other workspaces throughout the libraries.

General Information

Most study spaces will contain the following:Reading

  • Study tables suitable for groups of 2-6 students
  • Individual study carrels with and an overhead shelf.  Some powered
  • Electrical Outlets
  • Wireless Access
  • Public Workstations

Willis Library

Lower Level

Typically one of the quieter areas of the library. This floor provides a great deal of space during most of the year; however it can be quite full during exam periods.

  • Designated "Quiet" study area
  • Graduate Reserve Carrels
  • Large number of individual study carrels
  • Limited cell phone signals
  • Microform readers
  • Willis 035 instruction room

First FloorWillis Forum

The first floor of Willis is a high-traffic space with people coming and going all day and night. It is divided between two general areas, a technology-rich side ideal for individual work, and a space optimized for group study.

  • Casual seating
  • Cyber Cafe
  • The Forum: Space for presentations, meetings, and other large instructional needs
  • Image Depot & Printers
  • Interactive Whiteboards (3)
  • Lactation Room
  • Study Tables, several with large computer monitors for group computing use
  • White boards
  • 24 Center
  • Willis Library Learning Center & Instruction Room (Room 136): Typically used for group/class instruction sessions. Includes multiple computer workstations and projector

Second, Third, & Fourth Floors

Typically quieter than the first floor, with a mixed assortment of individual and group study spaces.

Discovery Park Library

Typically very quiet for individual and group study.
