Admission RequirementsFemale pharmacist student

For consideration into the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, all applicants must:

  • be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (must possess U.S. Permanent Resident card.  Will not accept letters of application for permanent residency.
  • complete the pre-pharmacy prerequisites prior to matriculation
  • achieve an minimum overall 2.50 grade point average on prerequisite coursework
    Important Note: If an applicant elects an exemption for general
    education prerequisite requirements based on a completed bachelor's
    (or higher) degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, then only
    his/her math and science prerequisite coursework will be included in the GPA calculation
  • obtain three (3) letters of recommendation on business letterhead and should contain professional, verifiable emails (academic and/or worksite)
  • complete the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT)
  • submit an admissions application through UNT System College of Pharmacy online application service
  • submit a non-refundable application fee (Money Order or Cashier's Check) of $50.00 made payable to UNTHSC

Note: A bachelor's degree is not required.

A criminal background check and drug screening will be required for applicants offered admission.

 

Grade Point Average

The minimum overall grade point average (GPA) required to be considered for admission is 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

If a course has been failed or repeated, all attempts are used in the calculation of the grade point average. However, the Admissions Committee will consider any grade trends. For example, if the second grade in a course was better or much better, that is favorable.

All applicants are required to take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) which is administered during the months of January, July and September. Applicants must complete the PCAT by September prior to the year they plan to start the PharmD program. 

Our PCAT school code is 176.

The exam consists of the following five subsets, in addition to two writing samples:

  • Verbal ability
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Reading comprehension
  • Quantitative ability

The PCAT must have been completed within the last three (3) years.

 

Admissions Process

Application Submit an online application through UNT System College of Pharmacy online application. Once the application is complete, the application will be reviewed by an Admissions Committee.
Interview
The Admissions Committee will review all applicant information and invite prospective applicants to interview for the PharmD program. Note that not all applicants will be invited to interview.
Decision
Following the interview process, the Admissions Committee will review the entire applicant file and make a decision on the applicant’s entry into the PharmD program.

 

The UNT System College of Pharmacy is in the process of becoming accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education. The College will not be fully accredited until it graduates its first class in spring 2017.
