In partnership with California State University Northridge Libraries, the Department of Library and Information Sciences at the University of North Texas will begin a third Greater Los Angeles Area Cohort in the fall of 2013. The Department is committed to the cohort approach because of the structure and community that it provides.
This program features a strong emphasis on the challenges and opportunities that are distinctive to the management of libraries and library collections and services in a diverse urban context. Guest presenters and field experiences at L.A. public, university, corporate, and private libraries in different communities help participants link their academic course work to the realities of library practice in this region and also serve as faculty in several courses.
Onsite instruction includes two on-site institutes held at the California State University Northridge (August 16-19, 2013 and January 12-13, 2014).
Because of the requirements for onsite instruction, participation in this program is recommended for persons in the Greater Los Angeles Area only.
The University of North Texas Department of Library and Information Sciences has a long history of providing high-quality programs at sites that are often many miles from the home campus in Denton. In receiving its current accreditation renewal by the American Library Association, the Committee on Accreditation commended the School for its outreach efforts.
Applications are now being accepted for admissions to the next cohort. Applications materials can be obtained through this website by selecting the "Prospective Students" item.
