Our residency is based at Lone Star Family Medicine Health Center, one of 11 recognized Teaching Health Centers in the United States. We have been training family physicians in Conroe since 1983, but were established as a Federally Qualified Health Center in 2004. Inpatient services are provided at our primary teaching hospital, Conroe Regional Medical Center, a 322-bed hospital located on a 91-acre wooded site. It is a modern acute care facility with a 24-hour emergency room, a state-of-the-art angiography suite, cardiovascular surgery, MRI, CT scan, ultrasonography, and a large wound care facility with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The hospital provides maternity and newborn services with level I, II, and III for newborn nurseries. There is an excellent variety of pathology in the patients cared for by our residents as well as active obstetrical and pediatric services. The Family Medicine Residency is the only residency in the hospital.
