2nd Lt. Nicholas King, Combat Logistics Battalion 26 engineer detachment commander, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) opens a box of bleach to help volunteers with Red Cross in support of a Hurricane Sandy relief effort at Staten Island, N.Y., Nov. 10, 2012. The Marines provided assistance by moving and restocking donated supplies for those affected by the hurricane. The 26th MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force. The MEU is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force capable of conducting amphibious operations, crisis response, and limited contingency operations. They are slated to deploy in 2013.
