10 15 12 Leg Symp May 2012 CageLegislative Summit Announced for January 2013

In May 2012, the NOVS held a Legislative Summit inviting veteran groups and leaders from around the state to discuss veteran issues and prepare for the upcoming 2013 legislative session. Research and bill planning have been in the works since May. Once again, the NOVS invites veteran groups to send representatives to the final Legislative Summit meeting in Tonopah on January 12. This will be the opportunity for the veteran community to learn and organize plans to support legislation concerning veteran issues. Read More. Governor Announces Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Receives Grant to Expand.

Governor Brian Sandoval today announced that the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery has received a grant for $5,036,089 million from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to develop approximately 7.5 acres at the cemetery. Construction will include over 6,000 replacement crypts and 4,000 columbarium niches. Read More.

Sandoval Signs Executive Order Creating Interagency Council On Veterans Affairs

Tuesday July 3, 2012 - Governor Brian Sandoval today signed Executive Order 2012-15, establishing the Governor’s Interagency Council on Veterans Affairs.

“Over the last decade, our country has been engaged in military conflicts around the globe and veterans returning to our state from these conflicts face significant hardships while transitioning back into civilian life,” Governor Brian Sandoval said.  “It is incumbent upon us as a society to provide the best level of service we can to our veterans and increased formalization of the State’s approach to coordination between existing efforts is necessary and important.” Read More.

For over 65 years we have been dedicated to helping Nevada veterans get the services, benefits and quality of life they deserve. With over 339,000 veterans living in our state, they rely on us to not only understand their lives, but to help them get a better quality of life. We do everything we can to show our American Heroes the same amount of respect, empathy, gratitude and service that they have shown us.

At the Nevada Office of Veteran Services we focus on being advocates for veteran benefits.  Throughout the State of Nevada, we offer a variety of services and benefits. Our Nevada State Veterans Home is located in Boulder City, Nevada and provides a home with specialized care, compassion and assistance. We also offer burial services with military honors at our memorial cemeteries located in both Northern and Southern Nevada. At the Nevada Office of Veterans Services we care about providing Nevada veterans and their families with services and benefits for a better life.
