Mission: JMC supplies America's Warfighters with the right ammunition at the right place, on time every time.

Vision: Providing munitions to the Joint Warfighter through world-class production and logistics.

JMC provides the conventional ammunition life-cycle functions of logistics sustainment, readiness and acquisition support for all U.S. military services, other government agencies, and allied nations as directed. JMC is the logistics integrator for life-cycle management of ammunition providing a global presence of technical support to frontline units.

Headquartered at historic Rock Island Arsenal on the Mississippi River, we are located in the Quad-Cities of Illinois and Iowa, approximately midway between Chicago and Des Moines.

What is the Joint Munitions Command (JMC)?

JMC is the latest in a series of commands since World War II that have managed the nation's ammunition plants. Since 1973, those commands have been headquartered on Rock Island Arsenal.

Brig. Gen. Kevin G. O'Connell serves as the commanding general of the Joint Munitions Command. The headquarters on Rock Island Arsenal is responsible for munitions production (ammunition plants) and storage (depots) facilities in 13 states. JMC employs 28 military, over 6,200 civilians and 7,100 contractor personnel. Of these approximately 14,000 personnel, 738 work in the headquarters on Rock Island Arsenal. JMC has an annual budget of 1.7 billion dollars.

What does the JMC do?

JMC provides bombs and bullets to America's fighting forces -- all services, all types of conventional ammo from bunker-buster bombs to rifle rounds. JMC manages plants that produce more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition annually and the depots that store the nation's ammunition for training and combat. We are accountable for $30 billion of munitions and missiles.
