Training and Assessment
The National Maritime Center's goal is to ensure persons and agencies offering U.S. Coast Guard approved training are performing their duties in a manner that meets all applicable regulatory and policy standards. The information and links provided here will assist your agency in preparing all necessary documentation for this purpose.
Approval Requirements
You must submit a complete application to the Training and Assessment Division in order to be considered as an Approved School. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at NMCCOURSES@uscg.mil.
The goal of the COAP is to ensure persons and agencies offering U.S. Coast Guard approved training are performing their duties in a manner that meets all applicable regulatory and policy standards. We have developed a Pre-Audit Checklist to help you with our process.
A person wanting to obtain a credential as a Engineering Officer can take qualifying exams which will earn them a Merchant Mariner Credential in this field.
A person who is qualified, and approved by the Coast Guard, to evaluate whether a candidate for a towing credential is proficient at performing specific tasks by comparing the performance of the tasks against performance standards published by the Coast Guard.
