On the 16th of October, 2008, the United States Army activated its second MEB, the 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade on Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The 4th MEB is designed as a C2 headquarters with a robust multifunctional brigade staff that is optimized to conduct maneuver support (MANSPT) operations. The mission of the 4th MEB is to conduct maneuver support operations, support area operations, consequence management operations, and stability operations for the supported force.
The 4th MEB belongs to the 1st Infantry Division out of Ft. Riley, Kansas, and consists of three organic units: Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th MEB; 193rd Brigade Support Battalion and the 94th Signal Company. The brigade also has Training and Readiness Authority (TRA) for three FORSCOM battalions on the installation: the 5th Engineer Battalion, the 94th Engineer Battalion and the 92d Military Police Battalion.
As of 1 October 2009, the US Army assigned the organic elements of the 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade to the Joint Task Force Civil Support, as a part of the Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) mission. Read more about the JTF-CS.
Throughout the 2009-2010 year, the 4th MEB redeployed and deployed several units, battalions and numerous smaller echelon units, including 2-3 person teams, into theaters theaters of operations throughout the world.
Units from the Brigade have participated in multiple training exercises, and some have even gone to the National Training Center and the Joint Maneuver Training Center.
The 4th MEB is a strong member of the 1st Infantry Division and the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE), building the unit into a combat-ready organization for our Army.
