Concerts at the Capitol

Lt. Cmdr. Brian O. Walden conducts the Navy Band at the U.S. CapitolThroughout the summer, The United States Navy Band takes advantage of the warm weather and landmarks in Washington, D. C. to perform in its Concerts at the Capitol Series.  Outdoor concerts at important landmarks and tourist destinations provide the opportunity for a special atmosphere.  These concerts also provide an excellent opportunity for outreach, as many audience members may not otherwise be aware of the variety of concerts the Navy Band provides.

The Concerts at the Capitol Series includes a number of performances that are regularly scheduled, as well as concerts that change venues and times.  The Concert Band performs regularly on Monday evenings on the west steps of the U. S. Capitol.  Sitting on the steps, audience members have the opportunity to look out at the band and have a clear view of the National Mall and the Washington Monument.  The Concert Band also performs on select Tuesday evenings in the Concerts on the Avenue performance series at the United States Navy Memorial.  The Concert on the Avenue is a joint concert with all of the units of the Navy Band, including the Sea Chanters, Commodores, Country Current and Cruisers.  For more information about Concerts on the Avenue, please visit its information page.

In addition to these regular concerts, the Commodores, Cruisers, Country Current, Concert Band and Sea Chanters all perform frequently at a number of other venues.  These ensembles to reach as far as Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, and also entertain audiences at recognizable sites such as the World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Harris Pavilion and others.  As with all concert and event information, please visit out Events Calendar for information regarding these concerts.
