Skipjack Quartet

Skipjack Quartet
.

The Navy Band’s newest ensemble, the Skipjack Quartet, consists of vibraphone, guitar, double bass and drums.  The Skipjack Quartet specializes in elegant jazz and Latin stylings of the Great American Song Book, derived from Broadway and popular songs of a bygone era.  This highly versatile group can augment their sound with a vocalist or other instruments when needed.  They perform for a variety of settings including background music for receptions, after dinner entertainment, concerts, chamber group recitals, public schools, colleges and master classes.

Led by Senior Chief Musician Juan Vazquez, the Skipjack Quartet includes Musician 1st Class Joseph M. Friedman, guitar, Chief Musician Leon Alexander, drums and Musician 1st Class Jeremy K. Middleton, bass. The group has performed at the White House and the State Department, for the Vice President, the Secretary of State, the Presidents of Afghanistan and Mexico and for Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society events.
